Lockpicking

Lockpicking requires Basic tools, created by the Metalworks skill.

Lockpicking is a contested skill vs an object. The object’s roll is predetermined at it’s creation by the craftsman generally using: [Locksmithing skill + 20], & remains as the difficulty to pick that lock for the life of the lock.

Picking a lock is: [Lockpicking skill + Presence + 1d20 vs the difficulty of the lock].

Each attempt requires an hour. Every 5 hours that character loses the ability to do a Daily Task for that day. They may not attempt greater than 10 times each day.

On a successful roll against a lock, for each number rolled over the difficulty of the lock, remove 5 mins. If a roll difference of over 12 is achieved, the lock opens only a few seconds (with most of that character’s time spent just pulling out the tools). If the roll fails to beat the target number, the hour is wasted & the attempt fails.
