Scholar
The Scholar skill encompasses reading, writing, mathematics, & basic sciences. This skill is important for written communication, finding the arc of a projectile, & so much more. Additionally, this skill is required to be at level 5 or higher to begin learning several advanced skills.
When applied to create original works, this skill may be used to create a higher quality product (as Tier value) up to the writer’s Scholar skill level. Creating works of lower quality than skill level does not effect time to complete. The rate to write a book would be 1 page per Scholar level, per day. This would require a minimum of Crude tools for writing utensils. Crude tools are Medium sized & Basic tools are Small sized for this skill. Any pages or books written this way should be stored in a space that can protect them from the elements (wind, water, earth & fire!).
Since a Daily Task assumes 5 hours, the rate of reading a book would be [25 pages x Scholar level] each time it is assigned. This would mean at Scholar: 1, you could read 25 pages per day -or- at Scholar: 12, you could read 300 pages per day. With no Scholar skill, a character cannot read.
GM may allow the reading of books to be completed without the use of a daily task with the extra hours available each day. Usually this time is set aside for eating, resting, sleeping, maintenance of bodily functions, etc. Generally, reading cannot be done while performing any other daily task. So completion of a book when assigned this way becomes a “work with your GM” situation for the time to complete it. This time method may be used similarly for writing books.
